The Jurors' Choice Winners' Exhibit from the biannual CCAC Member Show
has opened and will be on display through March 27, 2015 at the Jamestown
Community College Center Gallery at 260 Union Street, Olean, New York. Jurors
Sharon McConnell, Director of the Fosdick-Nelson Gallery at Alfred
University, and Sara Zak, a Visual Artist and Community Organizer in Buffalo,
New York, worked collaboratively to select pieces submitted by 26 member
artists and then chose the show winners from the exhibit.

It is an inspiring show representing a wide variety of media and techniques
from the traditional to the computerized. Best of Show winner Heather
Kanazawa has thirteen oil and wax abstract paintings in this new exhibit.
Inspired by fleeting dreams and past memories, Kanazawa works in complex
layers to create a similar, transitory quality in her pieces.

Mikel Wintermantel of Allegany, New York received the Jurors' Choice First
Place. He has eleven handsome oil landscapes in the exhibit that have been
created using various substrates - panels, linen, paper and copper. Speaking
about working on copper, Wintermantel said the metal surface "requires more
paint. It keeps me awake and makes me work in a more thoughtful way."

William Contino of Alfred, New York, the Second Place recipient, is showing
five intriguing wood block prints. The images begin as stills from video
which are manipulated  in PhotoShop, then exported to a laser cutter to etch
the image into the woodblock. After further editing the woodblock image with
hand tools, it is printed using oil-based inks on a traditional printing
press.

Third Place recipient, Bernard Aaron Dolecki of Alfred, New York has three
distinct media in the exhibit: a series of nudes rendered in five different
types of computer drawing techniques; a bronze sculpture of rope outlining
the form of  a cube; and a black and white block print in a birdseye maple
frame designed and built by Dolecki.

The JCC Center Gallery is located in the College Center, on the second floor.
Hours are Monday - Thursday 8 a.m. - 7 p.m., Fridays 8 a.m. - 3 p.m. through
March 27, 2015.
